Giveaway – A Discovery Trunk

Confession time.  I am not a crafty mum.  The problem is craft is pretty much my four year old’s favorite activity. I have just stumbled on a product that will help me to engage my son’s creativity and curiosity through craft.  It is also a product that is great for travel.

When we travel we either stay in a hotel, self contained accommodation or with family.  No matter how much we enjoy exploring each destination my children always need a daily quiet time.  The problem is that our accommodation on the road is often lacking in facilities that encourage quieter play making it all too easy to reach for the television remote.

The Discovery Trunk is my new solution for quiet play during our travels and one lucky reader is going to win one!

Created by a Mum of three that was looking for creative solutions to a question I have asked myself often “What are we going to do today?”.  The Discovery Trunk comes packed with everything you need (including scissors and glue) to engage with your children in a variety of activities designed to “challenge the mind, spark creativity and consume the hours.”  These activities include making stained glass windows and experimenting with spinning tops.   The Discovery Trunk is designed for children aged 3-7 and has enough material for 1-2 children inside.  Those wanting to entertain more children have the option of upsizing their Trunk.

The dimensions of the Discovery Trunk are 35 x 30 x 9 cm and retails for $29.95.  While you may have trouble fitting this in your luggage, they can be shipped directly to your accommodation (this is what I am planning to do for my next trip).  Bronnie, the creator of the Discovery Trunk is a Melbourne local and is happy to drop them off to Melbourne hotels if any families are visiting the Victorian capital.

To be in the running to win a Discovery Trunk leave a comment telling me why you would like to win one.  Share this post on Facebook to gain an additional entry.

The winner will be chosen randomly on December 10th (so add your comment by then) and announced on December 11th.  Entry is open to Australian residents only.

  1. I would love to win this pack to keep for a. bad day.I have a 2.5 yr old and twin 9 month olds, so it will help keep my toddler happy 🙂

  2. Hi Dani, I would love to win a Discovery Trunk as I discovered them and loved them immediately. I would take this to grandparents homes when travelling or if we were staying away from home, not to mention to use on a hot summer day with the kids! Pick me! 🙂

  3. My daughter is a craft junkie! She loves anything to do with paint, paper and glue. This would be a perfect gift for her. Thanks for the heads up, and for the opportunity to win!

  4. I would love to win one of these for my 3 & 1 yo kidlets. I often get a brain freeze when it comes to thinking of crafty ideas. This would solve that problem!

  5. Would love to win one for my daughter. She is a CRAFT nut and I just don’t have the ideas or IMAGINATION (if only to be a kid again) to keep up with her. This would make life so much more enjoyable for us both.

  6. This would be the PERFECT Christmas gift for my inquisitive nephew. Watching him play and learn with it while we are on holidays together would be even better!

  7. I’d love to win this for my toddler. She has quite recently started getting very into crafting at playgroup, storytime at the library and at home, and she loves watching Mr Maker. This would be a great christmas gift for her 🙂

  8. I’d love to win this for my youngest daughter. One of the world’s natural artists, she can turn anything into a masterpiece. (Even a tissue box and and a piece of string!!) So she would get many happy hours out of this lovely discovery trunk.

  9. My children adore craft time at home. This brings the whole family together to share a creative exciting time.

  10. I’d love to win because it’s really fun to make crafts with my little one, which can cultivate his hands-on skill and stimulate his imagination.

  11. As if Miss Six didn’t get enough opportunities for craft at school, as soon as she walks in the door, she is cutting, glueing (how DO you spell that?), drawing, sticking – she would totally loooove this!

  12. Was just cracking my brain on how to entertain my little one for our 7 hour flight this holiday season, this would be PERFECT (at least passengers around us would be thankful without a bored and wingy toddler)

  13. I have a craft-crazy preschooler and a ‘hands into everything’ toddler… they would both get a lot of mileage out of this great prize!

  14. We’re going camping for extended periods of time this summer so this would be perfect to keep our littlies occupied!

  15. In kindergarten my favourite activity was a cardboard sewing board with punched holes, where with a large blunt needle and coarse coloured thread, animal shapes were circumnavigated. Now at 69 years, and with regret anticipating a perhaps inevitable future with cognitive loss (hopefully a rather distant future), I imagine a time when the Discovery Trunk would be just wonderful for me, in a time of return to “second childhood”

  16. I’d like to win the discovery Trunk because….

Santa would like to deliver this pack,
To my son in his red sack.
Crafts are his favourite pass time,
Some of his creations are really Prime.
Hours of entertainment he will get,
And lots of fun, he will have I bet!

  17. This would be a fabulous school holiday activity to do with the kids and one that i would enjoy just as much as them.

  18. A school holiday boredom buster, give the kids hours of fun, if not, I could always lock myself in there for some peace and quiet!!

  19. I would love to win this for my nephew, he’s an incredibly talented and creative little boy who would love some new art supplies for Christmas!

  20. My autistic sister goes to an art group 1-2 times a week and one of her favourite things is making cards. They have limited supplies this is something she could take and share with people with disabilities.

  21. I’d love one of these for travelling – all sorted for you, and a great way to keep little ones busy when on the move. Genius idea delivering to hotels. Will definitely remember this when next in Melbourne!
