Tropical fun for the whole family at Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club

Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club

When traveling with your kids do you seek out accommodation that purposefully caters to the needs of families, or do other features attract you to properties?  My own preference is very much for family friendly properties, not just because of the facilities they offer, but because the attitude of staff and patrons is more likely to be positive and welcoming towards my own clan.  Tropical north Queensland’s Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club very much falls into this category  and is therefore one I recommend to friends visiting the far north.  Located only 20 minutes north of the centre of Cairns it is ideally placed for families wanting to explore this unique part of the world.  Even better it features an adventure playground, 18 hole mini-golf course, jumping pillow and swimming pool that kids will love.

During a recent mini-break at Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club we stayed in a two bedroom apartment.  The apartment was modern and ideally fitted out for families wanting to self-cater, with a large kitchen.  The spaciousness of the apartment meant we definitely would have been comfortable if we had been fortunate enough to enjoy an extended stay.

Set amongst immaculate tropical gardens are two swimming pools including a lap pool and tiered pool (perfect for small children as the first tier is very shallow).  We very much wished we had prepared a barbeque dinner as there are BBQ facilities poolside.

Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club is situated on an eighteen-hole golf course and as such is a short drive from other north Queensland attractions.  I always recommend to families visiting tropical north Queensland that they hire a car to make the most of their time in the tropics.  Palm Cove beach, local shops and the Cairns Tropical Zoo are only a five minute drive from Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club.  Other tropical north Queensland must-sees including Port Douglas, the rainforest village of Kuranda and Mossman Gorge are a thirty-minute drive away.  Families that chose not to hire a vehicle have access to the shops and Palm Cove beach via the Paradise Palms shuttle bus.

Fifty-Nine restaurant caters well to families and is a local family favourite for dining.  Tables overlook the adventure playground allowing parents to relax while their children play.  Our own package included breakfast at Fifty-Nine restaurant – a delicious a la carte meal rather than the traditional buffet.  The breakfast was actually the highlight of my own stay there – early morning dining in a gorgeous topical environment takes a bit of beating.
