When I am at home in Cairns I rely on a couple of parenting directories that keep me informed about what is on locally for families with children. I am a fan of social media so receiving their updates in my Facebook news feed is part of this. I have recently started referring to regional parenting directories when we travel to update me about what is occurring locally during the time of our visit. Joining with local families at non-tourist events is a great way to immerse yourself in the community of a place. These parenting directories have also proven a useful guide for us when choosing restaurants, attractions and parks that are most likely to suit the needs of our very small children. I thought it would be useful if I shared these parenting directories with you, for your own travels. Don’t be shy about joining up to their Facebook pages, if only for the duration of your visit or posting questions to locals to guide your stay.
